NIH Hypocrisy

Every single psychedelic research grant proposal for research investigating their use as medicine has been rejected by the NIH. THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED. As a result, all psychedelic research is privately funded.

This is me holding government officials accountable. The NIH (National Institute of Health) is the government research arm for studying new medicines. They are responsible for nearly half of all the research that leads to new pharmaceutical medicines. The rest is privately funded.

It may be partially explained by the 1996 ammendment that prohibits spending federal money that promotes the legalization of any schedule-I substance, which @aoc attemped to overturn in 2019 (see my IG post for the video), but the 1970 controlled substances act itself did irreparable damage to the academic community's ability to study schedule-I substances without stigma.

In the original article, Francis does praise psychedelics, but fails to mention the big fat elephant in the room, which I enthusiastically corrected here.

This is the world we live in, injustice is literally written into law and correct me if I'm wrong, but guys like Francis here have been protecting those injustices in favor of avoiding being a part of the stigma. I'm open to other interpretations of this apparent virtue-signaling, but that's what I'm seeing.

BTW, I did edit most the text on this screenshot, but the original article has a similar title you can look up.
